Book Review: Animal Reiki: Using energy to heal the animals in your the By Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad
reviewed by Ellie Barna
If you have ever thought about expanding your Reiki experience to include working with animals, this is definitely the book for you. The authors have had animal Reiki practices for many years, and this book is a compendium of that wealth of information that only hands-on experience can give you.
The book begins with an overview of Reiki and a basic Reiki treatment as background information. The remainder of the book is dedicated to providing more specific information n of Reiki for animals, including detailed descriptions of treatments for various types of animals, ranging from horses to birds. Even more specialized instructions are included for Reiki with wild animals, senior and special-need animals, and dying animals.
What make this book unique are the numerous personal stories and photos from both authors that are woven throughout the text. Here's a quote from one by Fulton:
My work with the deer and other wild animals has taught me more about animals and healing than anything else I have done or read. Their understanding of Reiki and their incorporation of it into the life of the herd are, to me, the ultimate testimonials to its potential for animals. And for me, living and working with wild animals is the realization of a childhood dream of understanding, affection, and mutual support with wild creatures.
It's one thing to read a how-to book on a new technique, but to me, hearing a story about how it actually worked is much more helpful. The authors include stories about their experiences with their family pets, clients, shelter residents, and also wild animals, all of whom have been helped in some way through Reiki. If you're an animal lover, you're sure to find this book entertaining as well as informative.
